A very special thank you, once again, to the ladies at Try Stampin' on Tuesday who named this card in their top three !!
An unexpected visit from Spencer today, as his babysitter forgot she was taking care of him while his mom played golf.
We always have such good fun ! He is busy writing a Scooby Doo book, which I am apparently, illustrating, with plans to turn it into a movie. He told me today he needs scenery, costumes, and oh yes, some actors !! He did offer me the Scooby Doo part, but I don't make those Scooby noises all that well.
When we were making caramels the other day he told me he could open the can of condensed milk. I couldn't even imagine a 6 year old could manage an old fashioned can opener, but he did it quicker than I ever could, and then said
It has been so dull around here this week that the most exciting thing was the clock stopping in the media room. I have decided not to replace the battery for another few hours, just to prolong the festivities. Yawn ...
A big shout out to the ladies at Just Us Girls who named this card Chic of the Week !!
Hope today is finding you healthy, happy, and energetic !
Ever had the feeling you really screwed something up in a royal way, and after fretting for weeks, find that you did exactly the right thing ? I awoke this morning finally knowing I had worried for absolutely nothing. As Tom Petty says,
most of the things I worry about never happen anyway
Today I made a card that is going to the challenge at
We had one of those "faux" weekends here, with Dom working on Saturday. Spencer spent the weekend with us, as his mom and dad were off to a golf tournament, as they are so often during the summer.
We spent a lot of time playing all sorts of games, watching Scooby Doo, making caramels, going to the park, and eating. He always seems to love coming here, and we are taking advantage of that, as we know he won't be so keen on it once he gets to be about 12 or so.
Enjoying a relaxing Friday morning today. A little misty outside, but it will probably shape up to be a great day !
Thinking today of an old old friend, since I had a dream about her last night. We have only seen each other twice in the 40+ years since our high school days. But both times, we fell right back into our old comfortable friendship, as if we see each other often. I only have a couple of really old friends, but I cherish them.
We are already busy planning another Disney World trip in January, only a few months after we had our last trip ! One thing we will be including is a visit with a chef at one of the fancy restaurants for Spencer. He is such a huge fan of "Chopped", and talks about presentations and recipes A LOT. He named one of his dishes "Duck on a river" which is "duck in yellow sauce", lol. He has made up three recipes, which he has also tried, his favorite one being an apple/cheese sandwich. The chef visit will be a surprise for him, and we are hoping will include a peek in the kitchen.
Tried to talk him into a character meal with some princesses, but he says NO.
A shout out to the ladies at Try Stampin' on Tuesday for including this card in their top 3 !!!
Another gorgeous Oregon day !
Still suffering the grass pollen though.
Last week Eugene hosted the Prefontaine Classic, the most prestigious track meet in the country. The 100 m sprint included 8 of the top 10 sprinters in the US.
This week Eugene is hosting the NCAA Track and Field Championships, and we have the Junior World Championships coming up around the corner. Isn't it so odd that Eugene (also known as Track Town USA) has so many fabulous track meets here when we have the pollen count of, say, hell.
Nike Shoes originated right here, with running shoes made from waffle irons sold out of the trunk of a car. Can you even imagine.
A beautiful sunny day outside ! Unfortunately, our pollen level is so high everyone is miserable ! Grass is 574, and Saturday was over 700 yikes... And of course, our major field plant is grass. No escaping allergies if you live in this valley.
Most of my friends and I no longer have dads to celebrate on Father's Day, but we may give a card to our spouse, son or son-in-law. I am leaving out grandsons, since I am not THAT old ! Spencer seems to think that his son will come and spend Sundays with me and Pop, just like he does, yikes.
